Hello, I’m Cora!
My name is rooted in Greek mythology and means ‘heart’. A big open heart is what I strive to bring to every interaction I have in life and in every job I do.
I love people, I love stories, and I love learning about people’s life stories. That’s what drives me in all the jobs I have held and in every ceremony I perform.
I am a fully accredited Humanist Celebrant and trained with the wonderful charity ‘A Quiet Revolution.’

What is a humanist ceremony?
As humans, since the dawn of time, we have created rituals to mark significant events and life decisions. It is a natural human instinct to want to draw our loved ones around us and create a moment in time which says this is important and I want you all to be part of it.
Births, age transitions, marriages, child arrival, child naming, leaving a parental home, renewal of vows, and giving dignity and ritual to the end of life. These life cycles are the building blocks of our lives, and it really matters what we say and how we say it at each stage.
A humanist ceremony is essentially rooted in kindness and respect for ourselves, each other and the planet we have the privilege of borrowing for the short time we are alive.
In a Humanist ceremony, we can draw on ancient rituals which feel most aligned with your culture, your vibe, your taste. We can create new ones which have symbolism for you. We can craft vows which are the personal promises you make to each other, use poems, lyrics, songs and speeches which are indicative of the building blocks upon which you want this life together to grow from.

What can I offer you?
I have 30-years’ experience as a Director, Writer and Actor. Much of my work as a theatre artist has been telling the real-life stories of people who have had extraordinary journeys and fought against unjust systems. I am passionate about amplifying people’s stories and for many years I did this on stages, crafting these into carefully sculpted shows which had a huge impact on audiences around the world but that was always the most important thing for me was connecting. Connecting: with the story I was trying to tell, and the audience I was telling it to. My evolution to become a celebrant was a very natural one. I am still crafting stories, but in this case, the story is yours.
As a Humanist Celebrant, my job is to learn about YOUR journey, as two individuals, who you are, what makes you tick, what are all the fascinating idiosyncrasies in your worlds and what is the very special connection you have with one another.
I want to tell your story, to share it with your nearest and dearest, and to do that within a ceremony which values equality between two life partners, which celebrates their uniqueness, and which includes words, vows, music and rituals which have meaning for YOU. You lead all the choices, I will present suggestions, I will offer possibilities, speak the words you have chosen, but the ceremony is crafted by you and belongs to you.
